Prospects look dim that the Super Committee will reach an agreement to reduce the nation’s deficit by $1.2 trillion over the next ten years. Lawmakers are already looking ahead to required sequestration, to begin in January 2013, that would cut $1.2 trillion from the federal budget over ten years through reductions in defense, discretionary spending, and Medicare provider rates (up to 2%).
